Goals for this lesson
- Use the simple present to talk about routines on your favorite day.
- Use time expressions (in the morning/afternoon/evening; usually; sometimes; then; after that; finally).
- Write a short paragraph (5–7 sentences) explaining why you like that day and what you do.
Key words & sentence frames
Days of the week (always capitalized): Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Time words: in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening, at night, usually, sometimes, then, after that, finally
Useful frames:

- I like this day because ______.
- In the morning, I ______. In the afternoon, I ______.
- Then I ______. After that, I ______. Finally, I ______.
- This day makes me feel ______ (happy/relaxed/excited).
Tip: For routines and facts, use the simple present: I get up, I play, I feel.
Part 1 — Building sentences step by step
A clear sentence has a subject + verb + details (time, place, reason, feeling).
- My favorite day of the week is Saturday. (subject + verb + day)
- I like this day because I can relax. (reason with because)
- In the morning, I sleep late and have breakfast with my family. (time + activity)
- Then I play football with friends in the park. (sequencer + activity + place)
- This day makes me feel happy. (feeling)
Part 2 — Model paragraph
Example (Tom):
My favorite day of the week is Saturday. I like this day because I don’t have school and I can spend time with my family. In the morning, I sleep late and eat a big breakfast. After that, I play football with my friends. In the afternoon, I watch a movie or read a book. In the evening, we have dinner together. Saturday makes me feel relaxed and happy.
Why this is good: It uses simple present, time words (in the morning/afternoon/evening), and sequencers (after that). It also explains a clear reason for liking the day.
