Writing Practice A1- Writing About Your Favorite Outfit

Hello! In this lesson, you’ll learn to describe your favorite outfit clearly. You’ll use useful clothes vocabulary, simple sentence frames, and a full model paragraph. Then you’ll practice with activities and check your answers.

Goals for this lesson

  • Use the simple present to describe clothes and habits (is, are, made of, wear).
  • Describe colors, materials, style, and how you feel in an outfit.
  • Write a short paragraph (5–7 sentences) about your favorite outfit and when you wear it.

Key words & sentence frames

Clothes: T-shirt, shirt, blouse, jeans, trousers, shorts, dress, skirt, hoodie, sweater, jacket, coat, shoes, sneakers, boots, sandals, hat, cap, scarf

Materials: cotton, denim, wool, leather, silk, polyester

Adjectives (style/feel): comfortable, casual, smart, trendy, simple, cool, warm, light, soft

Useful frames:

  • My favorite outfit is a/an …
  • I wear it when … (I meet friends / I go to the park / on weekends)
  • It is made of … (soft cotton / warm wool)
  • It looks … (casual / smart / cool)
  • It makes me feel … (confident / comfortable)
  • It matches … (my sneakers / a black cap)

Tip: Facts and routines use the simple present: It is, It’s made of, I wear, It matches.

Part 1 — Building sentences step by step

A clear sentence has a subject + verb + details (color, material, time, feeling).

  • My favorite outfit is a red T-shirt and blue jeans.
  • I wear it when I go out with my friends.
  • The T-shirt is made of soft cotton.
  • It looks casual and it makes me feel confident.
  • It matches my white sneakers.

Part 2 — Model paragraph

Example (Mia):

My favorite outfit is a black hoodie with grey joggers and white sneakers. I wear it on weekends when I go to the park or meet my friends. The hoodie is made of soft cotton, so it feels warm and comfortable. The joggers are light and easy to move in. This outfit looks simple and sporty, and it makes me feel relaxed and confident. I sometimes add a cap to complete the look.

Why this is good: It uses is/are, is made of, feelings (comfortable, relaxed), and explains when she wears it.
